Glaze Chemistry: Fixing a Glaze using a glaze calculator (Glazy.org)
Nelson Clay week Glaze Chemistry: Fixing a Glaze using Glazy.org - with Ronald Boersen
In this workshop, we'll delve into the intricacies of glazes. I encourage all participants to bring along a glaze recipe that isn't quite living up to expectations or is posing some challenges. Together, we'll examine these recipes and use glazy.org to analyse the chemistry behind their success (or lack thereof). We'll collaborate to workshop and test potential solutions. Throughout the process, we'll uncover the significance of the Unity Molecular Formula (UMF) and how different glaze ingredients influence the final fired result. This workshop is designed for potters with experience in glazing who aim to deepen their understanding and control over their outcomes.
Please have at least one glaze that is not working as expected or is presenting some difficulty, and pre-submit your recipe to ronaldboersen@gmail.com with the subject 'Nelson Glaze Workshop'.
Bring your Laptop or Tablet with your Glazy.org account active.
Bring your respirator or P2 Mask.
