In this 5-session introductory course on wheel-throwing pottery, you'll learn the basics of pottery making and get hands-on experience creating your own pieces in an intimate and supportive studio (max. 4 students).
Session 1: Basic Throwing Techniques
Get familiar with the pottery wheel and basic tools.
Learn how to centre, open, and pull to create simple forms like cylinders and bowls.
Receive guidance as you develop your skills with clay.
Session 2: Improving Your Throwing Skills
Practice the basics and learn more about wheel-throwing.
Explore techniques for shaping and altering your forms, such as collaring, flaring, and pulling handles.
Session 3: Trimming and Finishing
Move from throwing to trimming and refine the shape of your pieces.
Learn how to add decorative elements and prepare your pieces for glazing.
Session 4: Glazing Techniques
Learn about different types of glazes and their applications.
Try out various glazing methods, including dipping, pouring, and layering.
Session 5: Reflection and Celebration
Show your finished pieces and reflect on your progress.
Celebrate your work with your classmates and instructor.
